aftermarket powervalves?

Just curious if anybody makes aftermarket powervalves? I keep having a problem with the dog bone at the end of the cable pulling through the end of the powervalve. Maby some billet alluminum powervalves would be nice..
 
Gotta keep em clean. They get gummed up and the cables pull through. I've seen it happen to a few people on here before. Clean them real good every now and then only takes a few minutes. I havent ever seen any aftermarket ones though. Maybe titanium? that would be cool

ya, but if you start mixing titanium and aluminum in that kind of heat you're SURE to break stuff
 
I think turk had been using some kind of modified pv that had a stainless steel insert. Maybe he could help you out with a solution.
 
What year is your sled? Yamaha came out with better ones after '02 or '03. If you get a new OEM, compare it to your pre '03 sled and you'll notice a big difference in the area where the cable attaches to the powervalve. I have an '02 SRX that's pulled two through. When I replaced them with new ones, I noticed the difference then.

what you do is to cut the top off, drill and tap the shaft of the valve, turn a bolt into it with the last 2-3threads banged up so it cant get out. then in a lathe turn the head round, drill a hole through it and then either cut a slot with a thin hacksaw blade or machine a small slot in it. another way is to drill and slot from one side, then thread it to use a set screw to hold the cable end tight so it cant vibrate and chafe
