Can any one help me with this?

I started my 2002 Viper in the morning, drove it onto the trailer and turned it off. 45 minutes later I started it, drove it off the trailer, and turned it off. 5 minutes after that I started it again and left it running while I went to put on my helmet. I left the choke at the 1/2 way position. When I returned to the sled, it was not running.

I tried and tried to get it started again... Full choke, half choke, no choke, etc... Nothing. I ended up dragging it back onto the trailer and going back home. I parked the snowmobile in the shop, which was at about 40 degrees F. I waited a few hours and tried to start it again by putting a little fuel in the spark plug chambers. It would only run for about 2-3 seconds at a time. Again... It wouldn't start.

I then waited about 5 hours and went back to the machine that night. It started in three pulls. It ran kind of choppy for a few seconds and then it was back to normal.

So what did I do wrong???

Thanks

flooded, try and use the choke only enough to keep it running. leaving the choke on flooded it out. make sure you let it warm up good too. hope this helps

Thanks for your reply and help. My next question is how do I start a flooded Viper?

Don't use the choke, hold the trottle wide open and pull and pull until it starts. It will start, might take 10-15 pulls though, but it will work.

mine did same thing when I bought it. D oes it have the recall on fuel pump done and if so take it apart andput pipe insulation under pump and problem fixed, insulation that goes around water pipes. M ine had recall done with silocone and same result in this type of weather we have know, pulled it back once like you did and fixed it myself.

It turns out that the problem was the fuel pump freezing. It happened to me a few more times where the snowmobile would only run for a short time and then it would stall and would not start until I warmed it up in the shed.

I did the fix (seal the hole on bottom of fuel pump) myself and I have not had any problems since. It starts easy now! Although I do seem to have to give the machine a little more throttle when I do start it. But, it is starting and running great!

Thanks for your help!
