what is all needed to raise the rear of my 136" viper up a little, i would like more height before it gets hung up on the boards. i assume drop brackets and something with the center mount? anyone have the specifics for a clean job? thanks

I used all Yamaha components when doing my Viper. The drop brackets from Yamaha require a narrower i.e shorter idler axle. I purchased and installed brackets from a 98 Venture and shortened the axle myself. Ended up buying a new one due to a dealer butcher... um, I mean't mechanic, screwup! It is only ALUMINUM and it was over 60 bucks!!! The brackets allow 2 positions, but I run mine in the lowest hole for more clearance. There is also a bracket that drops the front holes as well. You should install both. You can find the part numbers off the online partsfinder. Hope this helped.

Dave ;)!

The 97-99 Mountain Max brackets are the same as well. Like Viper Dave said you will need to use the shorter MM/Venture rear cross shaft or shorten your Viper aluminum shaft. Also the spacer's that fit over the end of the shaft will need to be shortened.
These bracket's work best with MM/Venture 136" rails. They are designed for the longer rails, that move the rear arm's/shock back 7.5". ;)!

you don't want to drop the front mounts if its not necessary because it hurts the approach angle and makes it trench more instead of climbing up in deep snow

are the center brackets off a venture too? how much height did you get? thanks

I made a major misstatement when I said that I had dropped the FRONT of my suspension. I did NOT drop the front! Sorry, my bad LOL. I moved my CENTER bracket down to match the drop of the lowest hole in my stock MM/Venture drop bracket. I did this by first measuring my riding partners Venture suspension layout. The CENTER mounting bracket has 2 positions, 1 stock and 1 dropped. I then moved my original CENTER bracket down to match the lower mounting position. I am really sorry for the incorrect information in my 1st post, was a 12 hr. day at work and I was definitely not thinking clearly. I will say that having another sled to check dimensions on was a HUGE help. I did the entire project in my unheated garage after New Years day and the following week. Was bitter cold out, -15, and having the measurements before I started cut WAY down on the headscratching! And for those who have met me, you know I don't need to be scratching any more hair off my CUEBALL LOL!! I hope this helps you in some way.
