Is there any way that I can put a new throttle assembly on my SRX without having to remove the grips?? The old one was cracked so I just broke it off. If I do have to remove the grip, what's the easiest way to do it?? Will the old grip and grip warmer be usable again after I remove it???.....or do I need to buy new ones.

grip removal
I would think you can get the grip off with air pressure. If it has a rivet, drill out the rivet carefully and then use air to get the grip off. Re-install with some epoxy and new rivet.

yup, air pressure works great, pour some hot water over the grip you want to come off, stick the air line in the opposite one and pull the trigger, might take a little yank but it should pop right off.

If you need new grips, I've got a pair.

epoxy? The grips on my '97 sx were just held on by the rivet, no epoxy. Never had them off on my sxr's or srx

i would use epoxy because of the twisting that happens when riding hard, that twisting will break down the grip and cause the heated grip to fail.

I used Elmers spray glue when I put mine on 2 years ago and they're holding up just fine. Sprayed some on the bar, some in the grip, let it tack up a bit and put it on.

Viper assembly must be different than the SRX assembly because I had to take my grip off also and slide the throttle assembly off. I used JB weld to "glue" it to the handlebars and the rivet of course. It stuck really well. My sled has been ready to go for a while now, just need snow. Thinking about getting a different track too.
