WILL A 2003 RX-1 SUSPENSION FRAME FIT INTO A 1998 SRX 700 without having to do any modifications to the tunnel and snowmobile itself? ALSO WOULD IT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE ?Has anybody done this yet? Just want to improve to a 11.5 " of travel versus the 8 inch of travel ORIGIONALLY ON THE MACHINE

Picture/.
ARE THERE FACTORY QUICK ADJUST RODS ON THE SKID ALREADY CAUSE I GOT A PRICE FOR THE SKID(EVERYTHING INCLUDED) FOR $600 . Is this too much? haven't look at it yet. the guy says its mint, needs nwew hyfax and a rear wheel. Does anybody have any pictures of the rx-1 skid in a SRX, SO I CAN SEE THE HEIGHT CHANGE OR WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE ?

Yes it will bolt right in. You will want to consider longer shocks for the front end as the nose will point down now. If it's us dollars, it way too steep, I would think half that. There's lots of pro-action suspensions floating around.

rxi skid
if i remember right there is a differance in tunnel width but interchanging parts will make the skid work well and handle the bumps better than the old one did.

The width of the tunnel on the RX-1 is a little wider I believe. I did this exact swap last year. I bought it for $350 if I remember right from Betheviper. He removed something so if would bolt right in. I would pm him and ask that same question. $600 US is way too much. And you will also want to raise the front up like the earlier post said.

the rear shaft is narrow on an rx1, you can use it with spacers or i can send you a shaft, or you can take the shaft from your skid and install it into the rx skid.
i have a viper skid for sale if interested, no shaft swap and it has the newer version shocks that ride great.

what to do , what to do
THANKS FOR THE POST GUYS,
NOT SURE WHETHER TO GO WITH THIS RX-1 SUSPENSION ( CAUSE IT LOOKS BEAT UP , THE GUY SAID MINT , BUT ITS FAR FROM MINT) . It needs 4 new wheels(1 centre rear) and 3 new bearings to make it work decent,
I OFFERED HIM $450 CANADIAN FOR IT AND HE DIDN'T GO FOR IT.
Option number 2 is to get a set of rear viper shocks and throw them in. Would this bring up the rear end , higher than stock srx, if so by how much?
Also are there any pictures of a srx with viper shocks and quick rods. Any place in CANADA to get them cheap? Is it worth it?

I upgraded my 98 skid with 2 viper shocks. You will have to extend your stock transfer rods and put in a longer limiter strap. You can pick 2 used viper rear shocks for around $200 cdn. As far as trying to bring your front end up a bit to match the longer travel of your skid you can install rod extensions if you have the ohlins front shocks. They can be purchased from www.advant-edgemotorsport.com. I found this upgrade made a great improvment in my ride but have a hard time in getting the sled to transfer. The sled will not hook-up at all.

jay try moving your transfer rod bottom bolts closer to the front of the machine like a 98 skid frame has.than she will transfer.

Thanks for the advice. Any idea of how far they should be moved and will the length of the rods have to be changed?

if the holes are not already there i think around 2 inches i can tell you the rods are 14 inches centre to centre full transfer.shorten them at the top and reweld.

You can put Viper shocks on your current SRX skid and get the same travel as a Viper or RX1. You will need adjustable transfer rods and put longer rubber limiter straps on your year SRX. I would recomend the adjustable rods from max performance. Change both the front and rear skid shocks to the Viper shocks. It will raise the rear about 2-3 inches. This will make the front end sit too low. You can put entensions from Mountain Performance on the ski shocks if you have KYB shocks, or if you have Ohlins use extensions from Advant-Edge Motorsports. Ohlins are prefererred. Viper shocks can be used, but no one makes an upper bracket to adapt to the eyelet style SRX upper shock mount. The modified Viper shocks would give you the most travel and best ride.
