Thinking of going 121"-> 136"

I've got a 01' SX600R with 2000 miles on it and the stock track is pretty much shot (low snow conditions the last 2 years). I'm looking at putting a new track on it this summer and I've been thinking about spending the extra money and making it a "cross-country" sled as it currently doesn't do so hot off the trail (my 90' Phazer II does ALOT better off the trail). What would be the downside of running a 136x1.25" track on my sled? how much speed does it take off the topend? how does it effect handeling/ride/cornering?

Downsides are... Few mph off top end, and if running over 1.25 track, keep an eye on avilable trail snow... up sides? Everything else!

I just put a 141" on my 2000 700 SXr with a 2 " paddle. Love it! I don't do much trail riding though. The 2" on trails is another story. Not good for long stretches, track heats up too much. If you do lots of trails go to smaller track.

I put the moutain performance kit on and have no complaints.

However, my front end is now too low, putting 38" front, better in powder and it will lift the front up tonnes with stock shocks.

Top end speed droped about 30 Km/h.

Just do it!

Had a 97 600XTC. Rode it 1 year as a 121. It was fun on packed trails and good top end but sucked off trail. Next year put 136 Hartman kit on. I'll never own a 121 again. Lost some top end and took a while to get the handling back but it's better for everything we do. Most of our trails aren't groomed so they can get pretty rough sometimes. The 136 smooths out the rough stuff and the difference in flotation is VERY noticable.
