I was working on a 98 SRX 600 last night. It was bought as a part of a package deal and I am cleaning it up to sell it. It has 8000 miles and when I checked compression it was 110 on all three. Do you guys think that is too low? I do not know what stock is on the 600.

Compression testers in general can vary greatly. Since you are seeing the same comp on all 3 you should be fine.

I agree they can vary quite a bit. I was concerned though because I did a compression test on a SRX700 also and it was 125 on all three.. Maybe a better question would be how low should you let the compression get before changing rings?

if a compression tester had no air volume and you pulled the 2 at exactly the same speed, you could do an apples to apples comparison.
but the tester does have a volume, so a cylinder that moves more air will read a higher compression. another reason the 700 might read higher than a 600 is the difference in port timing.
all that being said, 8000 is plenty of miles, I don't think a set of rings would be too much to get a little more snap out of it. but your selling it. it runs good. why risk destroying it to gain 3hp the next guy may or may not even notice
