Is a 98 head and a 01 head the same?

nope, the 98-9 heads have a greater volume, thus lowering the compression. They will bolt right up and can be used if lightly machined to match the 00-02 heads.

this may be a stupid ques but can you put 01/02 heads on a 98/99 SRX to raise compression

Yes you can...good for 3-4 hp. I have a set of 01 heads in good shape. $120 shipped.
