I drive around 54 - 1093 yards over the sea..
orginal it was 151.3, but i changed to 148.(??) this winter..
My local yamaha dealer recommend 147.5..

what do you think? will it be to low?

And IF i should put my new thin head gasket on, what jetting do you recommend then?

Hope you can answer these two questions..

Don't do the head gasket on the 500's.

I've run 150's with a tempaflow with great results, up to 14mpg in tight trail hammering it. I ran that same set up in Ontario with -20* riding temps, did great.

I also recommend running amsoil, and leaning out the oil pump slightly. It help under part throttle and idling only, and it helped my consumption greatly!

So, do you think 147.5 will be to low?
as i said; i drive 54 - 1093 yards over the sea and +10* - -20*..
i don't have tempaflow... and my oil pump is damaged, so i mix 2-3% oil i the fuel tank..

I think it would be wise to check out Yamaha's jettting chart, and stick close to that. 147's might be too far lean for some conditions. I believe there's a chart in the tech section, or in the shop manual. I'll have a look, and see what I find!
