I need to buy a new helmet for my girlfriend this year. I currently use the motocross style with goggles and love it, but I'd like to get a full faced one for her. I do like the idea of the ones that the front flips open, but would like to hear any opinions. It looks like HJC has them down around 160 now. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I run a Bomb Modular helmet, but hear that it doesnt hold up in a crash. Not DOT approved, but one the of the best on the market for anti-fog. My wife runs HJC with a nose protector and she likes it. She doesnt like my Modular because she feels trapped behind that big mask.

Unless she rides all the time, Id go with the HJC snowmobile helmet. They are priced right and work fine.
;)!

What ever helmet you decide on for her, make sure you get her a heated face shield. Nothing is will dampen her fun (and yours) more than a frosted shield. HJC or KBC helmets would be my suggestion.

i have the yamaha hjc helmet and it works pretty good. yeah its a good idea to get the heated shield cause when it do fog up it fogs up pretty good.

I have a KBC helmet with the shield or the visor option (you can switch it, comes with both) and the quality isn't the best. The ratchet system for holding the shield up is horrible, wears out in a few rides, and the foam didn't stay bonded to the back of the helmet. I have two HJC's, an ACX2 and CLX4, both snocross helmets. They both rock, the ACX is a little lighter and has flex fit, so it forms to the size and shape of your head to a certain degree. Buddies have HJC closed faced and they love them too, especially with the heated shields. Great luck with HJC

I found that keeping it simple and comfortable is the best way to go. Heated sheild is a must. You don't have to pay top dollar to get the best helmet. HJC is a good helmet for the money. I have seen modular G-MAX helmets at snow shows for under $100.

I had an HJC CLX-3 SN motocross helmet. In the 5 years that I wore that helmet snowmobiling I had no complaints with it.
Im not 100% sure, but I think the SnoForce 3s are made by HJC. My mother has a new HJC helmet and it looks identical to the SnoForce 3.
Cap'n

Kinda like shoes, let her try it on and pick the one she likes. I would direct her to the better rated ones. Many of the modulars are DOT rated, but not snell rated as snell has tests that DOT does not have. Comfort, feel, visibility, and looks (not necessarily in that order) seem to be high priorities for women.

I have the bombardier modular and compared to my old HJC,, the modular sucks. Stick with HJC and spend the extra dough on a heated shield. HJC keeps the cold out and is comfortable. The modular isn't all that great.
