Can I use an 8CJ in place of an 8DN on my 700MM?.... I use 8CJ's on my 500 Vmax...
centre to centre is same
clutch faces/sheaves are same
belt width is same (I think)
therefore:
belt lengths must be same...
8CJ = $55 CAD
8 nDN = $92 CAD
I know the horse power is an issue, but if I don't drive like Blair Morgan, why wouldn't it work?...Would I screw something up?
Can the 8DN be used in the 500 also?...
thanks..TJ..

Actually, you can do what every you want as it wil get you around. But, the 8CJ is 35.3mm wide at the top 13.5 mm thick 1124mm in circumference. It's .8 mm wider 2.5 mm thiner and 9mm shorter than the 8DN. Your 700 is adjusted to let the 8DN ride 1.2mm high in the secondary. This 8CJ would ride higher and squeel like a pig because it's shorter. If you adjusted the secondary to let it ride 1-2mm below the lip it would not rip the cords out. However it's still a little short and soft. Like I said it will get you around town and get you back to the truck but IMHO it will mostly leave you stranded in the woods with a grenaded belt that could take out another part of the drive system/cooling/speedo. point taken...
I just found the specs too on the Tech page and see there are drastic differences in these belts.....
Oh well, no manicures or pedicures for the wife for a bit....I want to save 40 bucks one way or another... It's coming out of her spending money...
Thanks TJ...
