have 02srx700 8700 miles bender can hauck clutch kit bender cold air kit carbon tech reeds and rejeted seems to have lost about tenmiles an hour and some of the acceleration. Think I might need new rings but I'm not a mechenic. going to have compression test when serviced. wondering if anyone else has had this happen. Have 02 xcsp700 also and that is faster then my srx. I don't think it should be? any suggestions would be appreciated

it really shouldnt be at all, do a comp test yourself, should be easy enough. and if your clutch is getting worn (should be at that mileage) it would affect it greatly. not sure what to check exactly, but start with compression and clutch for wear. let us know how it goes!

Those silencers also lose horsies. Try switching that back to stock and see if you gain anything. And as they said, clutches and reeds at that mileage. You do clean your powervalves too, right?

You have a powervalve issue. A cable has probably pulled thru. I will bet the farm on this one!

i got a 2001 srx that i am building from the ground up into an 835 (would love a price 1000 tho!!!) with nos at the moment (again, would love a turbo tho!!!) will i need to worry about any of my cables pulling? I mean, as long as i clean them regularly so that they don't build up, i should be fine right? thanks!!!

yea as long as you keep the valves clean, AND make sure that the surface where the cables attach to the valves doesn't have any sharp edges to fray the cable and eventually cut it, you should be fine.

the bender can actually gains 2-3 hp in both the mid range & top end ( dyno proven ). compression test will not give you the info you need to know about engine sealing. need to do a cylinder leak test. probably not the rings. if you have access to a spring rate tester check the preload & full shift on the primary clutch spring - if not just replace it with a new one. the spring in the primary is probably the problem. they don't last forever.

bufalobob, i've seen a lot of your posts and everytime someone says black, you always say blue. silencers on yamahas almost always lose on power. on a stock srx, the best thing for it is the stock can. if you want to lose weight, or you want some sound, sure go to a aftermarket can, but you will have so sacrifice some. Rex, since your gettin up their in mileage you might want to go through the sled real good before the season and check all the nitty gritty stuff over. Like the stuff stated above, as well as idler bearings, check the idlers themselves, track slides, track clips, grease all the zerks and i mean ALL of them suckers cuz theres a lot of em that go unseen, try cleanin the carbs up real good before the season, check your plugs, and all that good stuff. if i miss anything hopefully someone will chime in and let ya know.

AFTERMARKET SILENCERS MAKE GOOD GARAGE WALL HANGERS ESPECIALLY ON YAMAHA,s!! EVERYBODYS AFTERMARKET CANS MAKE H.P. ON THEIR DYNO,S WHICH LOOKS GREAT IN CATALOG,s. than you get in real world and you go slower!! THEIR ALSO GOOD FOR ALOT OF WASTED NOISE THAT THE COPS LOVE. WHEN YOU GET YOUR SRX BACK ON TRACK, PUT STOCK MUFFLER BACK ON !! 3:16 (tony)

dude, don't do it. ya sure sounds like a hella good time runnin from cops, but your actions reflect on on fellow snowmobilers. go look up on snowest where a guy had an aftermarket can and he would go a back way back and forth to work, and the owner of the house he passed got pissed and strung up a wire which the kid met up with that night on his way home from work. i believe the guy got off easy too, the kid got his life handed... don't do it, throw some fiberglass packing in it, maybe a pony or 2 sacrifice. thats all i got
