I have both , 02 sc 10III and a 00 Cat skid and i want to install one of them on my Viper S. The cat skid seems to be the most popular choice, but Im looking for someone who has experience on both skids. I'm looking for the best skid for woopped out trails and miles of studder bumps!

doo I am betting, newer with more updates etc. cant say as I havent ridden the cat suspension

SC10-III is better than any of the '00 Cat skids for that condition. You will likely have to mess with springs and valving, so be sure the shocks are the rebuildable ones.

The Doo skid has the HPG racing shocks. Have you had much time in the moguls on this skid? Thanx for the Input!

I have limited riding time on the sc10-III but found it very plush with good transfer. (Rode a buds 02 mxz 600 and 04 rev 800). Never ridden the ZR skid. But the skids are fundamentally different. The SC10-III uses full 2 way coupling while the 00 ZR is not coupled at all. Cat converted to coupling, I believe it was in 02. There is an update kit from Cat to add coupling or there are aftermarket kits by AD-Boivin and Sled-Pro. From what I have read, many cat owners complained of too much transfer and hard to keep it planted exiting corners but it gave an awesome holeshot.

Personally, the SC10-III does everything well. It would be my choice. But I have no idea of the geometry and ease of bolt-in. Take good notes and let us know how it goes.

Most of the guy's putting in Cat skid's, are long tracks/mountain riders. I have a 03 1M 136" skid in mine. I'm still doing some fine tuning with shock valving, but so far it's working very good.
The 1M skid is a very good off-trail skid. It is the lightest of the 4 manufacture's skid's, has a good approach angle, and the transfer characteristic's work well for off-trail riding.
Not sure how the ZR would compare to the Doo skid, but the ZR is a pretty good rough trail skid.
If you end up using the Cat skid, dont go to crazy with the rear mount drop. They work best when the front and rear mounts in the tunnel are close to horizontal level, when measured from the top of the tunnel.
With either skid, you most likely will have to do some shock re-valving. To set it up for the Yamaha chasis.

PS. love those handle bars!

I've had significant time on the SC10-III in moguls, but on Skidoo sleds, not on a retrofitted Yamaha. Also, the SC10-II is only coupled one way, and some like it better for the wicked stuff. I have ridden well setup SC10-III's and do say that they too can be very good for the rough stuff. I have tuned a Pro-Action to death and not come close to the SC10-III. I have had some time on a '00 ZR, but it is not in the same league as the SC10-III.

I would have to think that the SC10-III skid would be the best choice of the 2 by a good margin.

Thanks alot Ding! :o| Just when I was convinced on using the Cat skid , you had throw out how well you like the doo skid in the bumps!lol I have a 00 ZR sno pro that i sno-xed for a couple of years, but the moguls on the track aren't moguls, they are more like a series of trail jumps. So its hard to compare.I only trail road it a few times, definitly better then the no-action skid.

Note that my one note referred to the SC10-II not the SC10-III . . .
I ve heard (magazines )that the III is much improved over the II, your thoughts are that the II is a little better in the nasty's? My biggest consern is that my proaction skid kicks like a bitch in the moguls, I don't recall my sno-pro ever having that problem. I would like to use the Doo skid because its in like new condition, you got me torn Ding, you got me torn!

Go SC10-III I say . . .

The big jump in comfort was from the SC10 to the SC10-II. The SC10-III brought 2-way coupling, but not near as big a jump in ride comfort.

See if Eric (Skidooboy) will give you his thoughts . . .

Thanks Ding, I 'll have to do that. I see him on here all the time, never thought to check with him! :o|

pro-xr, have you considered getting a M-10?? sweet weight belt have you thought about a patent? ...CP
No Patent, but I do enjoy riding it when theres no snow! The M 10 would be great, its just a $$$$ issue.

Found this post in a search about the SC10-III suspension.Need to get some info, maybe Sno-Xr can shed some light on the subject.Did you install a SC10-III suspension and if so how did install go.Are there any tips and info you can share.I am really having a hard time finding someone who has installed them.I have a hook on one and would buy it if I knew the install was not a big issue and how they feel.I know I rode on my buddies 03 MXZ and it really felt smooth and not as harsh as my SXR.Actually I was impressed with the feel of it.

I suppose I go go and see him and get some measuements off his sled as to the positioning of the bolts for the suspension.Still would like someone on here to let me know if it really was a breeze to install and what tips could you give and if you are happy with the skid.Found one which will cost me shipped to Winnipeg for about $884.00.Don't want to by it yet until I am sure it is a good skid for the SRX..The fellow I am wanting to buy from has 121 and 136 skids and also carries a M10.He talked me out of the M10.He installed the SC10-III on his 98 SRX and loves it.

for that cost why not a mono? lighter and REALLY easy to install :) if you trail ride it is a fantastic skid and seems pretty durable
