I looked at a 2003 RX1, the battery was dead as the sled has been in storage for almost two years, we jumpo started it and it started right up. However when I increased the RPM's the guage went crazy, flashing on and off and the tach would hjump from 800rpm's to 9,000 and back with no actual chjange in RPMS. If we hooked the jumper cables back up it was fine, also did not effect trhe way it ran. Could this be from just the battery being bad??

I am waiting for my membership on the 4 stroke forum so I thought I would ask here. I am planning on picking it up this afternoon.

Thanks

yes, just the dead battery affecting it. once it has a full charge it should no longer do that. before grabbing might be a good idea to double check that it works ok with a fully charged battery. sounds like it though, with the jumpers attached :)

Picked it up last night, didn't have time to pickup a new battery. For the price I figured I would take the risk. Only Ridden once it has 77 miles on it and has been in storage the past two years. can't wait to ride it.

Two questions what is the difference in the three RX1 models?
RX-1
RX-1 ER
RX-1 LE

I am ordering an owners manual today, but how do you check the oil level?? I searched found the chain case but not on the engine.

Thanks

it has dry sump, the oil chamber is in the brake side and the dipstick has a wire going to it. the er had reverse and the le was liquid silver with a few carbon fiber accents. that was all. the best mod for that sled is the sway bar and links :)

Another great mod is straight rate springs instead of the variable rate they came with. This coupled with the swaybar and links and some Simmons flexi-skis greatly improves handling.
