what is gained with this? trying to get a grasp of what it will give an otherwise stock viper. what am I losing? thanks :)

I unnderstood you would be gaining three sled lengths over a stock viper. The helix will give you more low end up shift. I am told it will not over-rev. I'am not aware of many down falls yet. I still need to install my helix and green spring and see how it works. ;)!

it will just make your upshift a little quicker so it will pull a little harder in most conditions. Most of the backshift is maintained when using the green spring. In most cases it will get rid of the slight overrev (all sleds are a little different). If not, a 4.5 gram rivet in the outer hole should do the trick.

oh, and what does that setup engage at? is it a harsh engagement or still smooth when trail riding?

engagement is the same. the primary isnt changed. i did just a 48/40 advant helix and it dropped my rpm from 8,900 to 8,500. it did pull a bit better, espically in the bottom to mid. 2-3 lengths is believeable in a run to 70+ mph.

sweet :) thought the spring affected it, like I said, still trying to figure it out :) ought to buy the aaen clutch book huh??? ...................

i was thinking if turk got $5 for every person using his recommendation on clutching he'd be rich!

yes, at least enough to pay for a nice new apex GT :) turk, you rock this site, along with sooooo many others! not to get off on a tangent, but after spending the summer on a civic board (thats my gas saving yet fun car) and listening to everyone tell each how stupid this is and how their car sucks because __________, I feel so refreshed and happy coming here! thanks to all who contribute!

It is in the Tec section, 53/43 Helix, Green Secondary Spring & Everything else stock

I will be adding that set up this year. I read to add 4.5 grams in each hole for the sled to completely ROCK the SNOW. What do you think?

honestly, no idea! I just ordered the aaen clutch tuning book from amazon.com lol! hope to know a LOT more soon enough :WayCool:

Dalton helix's are a good helix. For the green spring, just pick it up from your local Yamaha dealer. 51-43 is also a good helix to use.

^What he said. Also, not all people have to add a 4.5g rivet in the tips to get the r's right, they are all a little different. After putting in the new helix and spring, see where the r's are on a long pull and if they are still over 84-8500, put the 4.5s in. ;)!

so from what I can tell, if someone is selling a helix with there name on it for $119, chances are it is a dalton helix?? I noticed hauck sells them for $119 (same price dalton says is their msrp) and pioneer sells some helix's for $89.95 I think. is there a big difference? I know you get what you pay for and I usually get the nicer expensive peices as I like high quaility parts, but is it worth it in this case? thanks guys, I need the help lol!

If turks set up is a 53/43 helix, green secondary spring,I'm wondering what my helix is?
I have a hauck #3 set up,not sure what the helix is tho,and mine kit came wit ha black spring for the primary? This set up seems to do pretty well, but just wondering what my helix is? and if i need that primary spring???

the pioneer helix will be just fine. Only big differences in helixes usually is the nature of the cut. Advant-edge helixes behave like a much more aggressive cut than the number would suggest, so using say a 48/42 advant-edge will feel more like a 52/44 or so of the other brands.
