What is the manufacters spec for cyclinder head compression on a 1999 srx 600. I checked mine over the weekend just for curiosities sake and came up with 90 psi on all three cyclinders.

I have found that compression guages read different. Has your comp. guage been calabrated. My srx 600 comp reads 134, 134, 130. I had my guage cal. this fall. But like I say all guages read different.

Thanks
Yamaman, the gauge I used was borrowed and am not sure whether or not it was or ever has been caled. I am thinking of checking the compression again with a differnt gauge, because I thought it was rather ironic that they all read 90 psi o the nose, is it possible if the nom is 125-135 that they would all be off the same amount and be that low. Also the machine run pretty good, if all the compression reading were that low would it run a little funny, such as a loss of power feeling or boggy?

I have to agree that it very unusual that all three read the same there is usually a few pounds dif. I would definitly would get another guage and try again. If you come up with the same reading, put a little oil in the cyl. and re do the comp. test. If your reading don't change, it usually means your rings are getting bad and need to be replaced. Another consideration is how many miles does your sled have on it? If it has low miles I wouldn't worry tomuch about it.

Good thought on the oil idea. I am going to get to it sooner or later, but there 3200 miles on the sled. The whole thing that started this is that the sled starts really hard when it is cold below zero. I have tried adjusting the choke and other things but have not found the niche to starting it when it is really cold. So I thought I would check compression just for fun and this is where it has gotten me. Thanks for the input
