I'm at the cross roads. I can buy a left over Viper for my sled and $2k, or wait another year and but something Nytro like for my sled and more like $5K.
Part of this comes down to 2 vs. 4 stroke and better suspension quality. I guess the question then to you the Viper people is are you in any hurry to cross the line to 4 stroke land?
Thanks for the input. 2datrl

I have an 03 viper and dad got a vector er last year. I love my viper and REALLY love the new 4 strokes. I guess if I was in your shoes, I would get the most out of what you can. if the difference is $3k between getting a new viper and a used nytro...get the viper. I think that if the price was closer I would go 4 stroke. what year is the viper? was I right in assuming you were getting a used 4 stroke? I have a little over 5k miles on the viper, and figure that I will run it till I no longer trust it or it takes more to keep it going than it is worth. I would like to think I will keep it and buy the next sled outright with no trade. keep the viper as a collectible forever :) hope all of this randomness helps. have you test ridden anyof the 4 strokes? if so, years and models :) Eric

o, and the viper and dads vector are pretty close on the trails. the viper pulls better in the top end, but the vector KILLS me off the line and up till about 50-60. and by then he is so far ahead I cant catch up until top end, where I seem able to go a little faster. he also gets about 18-20mpg and I get 12-15. his rides better. my few other tidbits that I thought of lol! Eric

Similiar situation to 03viperguy, I have a 02 viper and my old man has a 05 vector. To be honest I love my viper much more then the vector HOWEVER I equate it to a worn boot vs a new boot. The viper just 'feels' better to me, its lower and handles just the way I like it. Its faster then the vector just because I can hook up and he can't, also up top I edge him out as well.

With that said if I owned a vector with the same mods and attention to getting it set up right I think I would like it just the same as my viper. Its clean (no smoke), gets great mileage, quiet, and has gobs of mid range TQ compared to a 2 Stroke.

In the end figure adding a $1000 to what ever sled to customize it to your tastes (studs, suspension, etc etc). For the difference in money... I'm still on a viper!

I have a viper, and my friend bought a vector last year,It does ride better, there close in performance,Sits a little high for my liking.it does get a lot better gas mileage than the viper, plus you save money in oil and gas.I'll be riding my viper til its in the ground. Then of course I'll buy a 4 stroke.Depends if you want the hit now or later??There both great sleds.and you need to tweek on both suspensions to get them to hamdle right.

I can buy a 2004 Viper ER for my sled and around $2k. I currently have a 2005 Venom ER. Otherwise, I'm guessing my sled and $4-5K should get a Nytro. I keep hearing that 2007 will be a killer year for Yami. This just adds to the confusion. 2datrl

Remember if you ride the venom this year say 1500 miles, you will get that much less out of it. Dealers will also give better trade in on a viper s, even thouhg it is older than a venom. Maxdlx
