I'm thinking of setting up either an SRX or Viper as a crossover (trail and off trail) sled with 136" track. Mostly for riding in mountain areas - not for deep powder but enough to get off the beaten path. Still want the fast trail/meadow performance.
Any suggestions on which of these sleds might be better for this. Thanks.

SRX has way more power for this kinda stuff. I set up my MSRX with a 1.25 for local off trail stuff & it worked very well. It is slightly heavier but makes way more hp & can be set up to work very well.

Actually I have one of my SRXs set up with a 136" track and it works well. I know the Viper sets higher and was thinking that might be an advantage at times.

IMO the Viper is the better choice for mountain riding. I have rid'n both in the mountain's, and while the SRX has good power, it's the extra weight that wear's you out.
A set of SLP's, good clutching and the new Yamaha mountain ski's, will really wake a Viper up for the mountains.
