I need some some information on what materials are needed to repair Yamaha hoods. My kids' 1995 Ovation has some cracks in it but I am not sure what to use. I think that regular fiberglass resin is not effective from what I have heard. Do I need to use a fiberglass cloth with the repairs? This is my first post and I will appreicate any tips.

There is a 2 part epoxy available at auto-body supply shops for bonding plastic and like materials. I can't remember the name of it, and I'm sure there are a few manufacturers. Ask at a good auto-body supply store and they will know the stuff.

check out www.westsystems.com - you can buy that stuff at West Marine.
These snowmobile hoods and body panels are like a plastic/fiberglass mix, so your correct that the fiberglass resin wont fix it properly. I have fixed a couple with success with a kit called plastic repair made by threebond. its available thru dennis kirk and other aftermarket suppliers. I also used a little bit of fiberglass mesh on the inside of the repair, and used the special epoxy that comes in the kit to mold it .
