Being a newbie SRX owner I was wondering if I should have my sled serviced by the dealer. My sled has 6700 miles on it. I did a dry compression test on it, 137, 135 & 132. My buddy says pull the carbs and clean the bowls and clean the power valves. I'm not sure what the dealer does and how much it costs. I've changed the plugs and lubed it so far. What is the general concensus on this. Does each dealer do the same thing for the same amount of $$ or are they all different. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I can do most anything mechanical, sleds are just something new to me.

I was going to post the same question! Here are some things I'm working on:
-Alignment, check track and skis, check for slop in wearable parts
-track tension
-Belt deflection
-Carbs cleaned and adjusted properly (I need to richen mine because the throttle would hang when it hit a lean spot
-Power valves cleaned and synchronized
-Clutch work, I am going to get mine dialed in finally and check for wear
-Replace hyfax if needed
-A good cleaning! I'm going to polish the tunnel and stock exhaust
That is a start to my list along with some mods I have added for this winter. I got jacked by the dealer for over $300+ and I found out all they did was clean the carbs, replace a radius rod and went through the clutch and replaced the rollers. Never again I bought a service manual and will never look back. Between that and this site be sure to try most things your self. 2 stroke carb engines are pretty hard to F up so if you get in a bind just post the problem and the experts on here will help you out, that is my plan when I take my carbs apart for the first time ever and start trying to figure them out. Good luck!

Change plugs, clean carbs, clean powervalves, change chaincase oil, and grease all suspension zerks. You can also do an inspection of your clutches (bushings, springs, etc.), also check your slides and carbides for wear.
These jobs take very little mechanical ability so almost anybody can do them. I definetaly would not take it to the dealer for a pre-season tune up.

Thanx guys I appreciate the input. Most items sound like typical maintenance stuff I can do. I thought it was going to be much more complex. I just bought a manual so I'll read up on the power valve synchro and how to safely service the clutches. Thanx again.
