looking for a set of pipes, any ideas on which are the best for my sled and the hp it might make? i have reed spacers, bored carbs, carbon tech reeds, single layer head gasket, and cleaned up the intake ports and polished exhaust ports. this thing hauls pretty good right now but i need some more!

Pipes for sale

I have a set of triple Bender pipes for a 700sx. These Pipes are in good condition, and add a TRUE 20hp over stock. They are quiet, and I have all hardware, jetting, and even a helix that works very well.

I am considering offers, and you can PM me if interested.

Just remember that if you put pipes on that motor you will want to have two layers of head gasket. One layer with single pipe two layers with tripple pipes.

Why the need for the additional gasket? I just bought a 99 sx700 from a guy who had put PSI pipes, weights, springs on the sled. Seemed to be pretty good at knowing why and how to make them work. I dont remember him saying he doubled up the gasket. Actually spent the day with him putting on the pipes and stuff that went with them. He had taken everything off to sell the sled stock. He was kinda nut about taking off the pipes every yr. ect to paint them.

I do not mean add an extra gasket. I mean that if you remove any layers from your stock gasket it should only be one layer removed with tripple pipes.

I belive the gerneral rule is remove two layers with single pipe and only remove one layer with tripple pipes.

I have psi pipes with stock gasket as my motor has never been apart. (97 700SX)

Phew, Glad to know that im okay. This is my first sled in 16 years. I have been thinking about my decision to buy the sled with the pipes like I did. Kinda hoping it wouldnt hurt reliability and longetivity. So far so good. Boy does it sound glorious!

Yes, i love my PSI pipes on my 700SX. Not to loud and great sound when you want to hear it.

Tod,
Do you have an idea what kinda power my sled has with these addons....

Psi pipes with stingers
roller rooster secondary
been jetted according to PSi's instructions
also weights and springs changed.

Also for fun it has adjustable transfer rods
144 1" picks
remote carb. adjusters.
What kind of sled can i expect to be competitive with?

Stock 97 700SX is around 110 to 115 horse.

PSI Pipes are supposed to add 25hp

Not sure what the head gasket layer removal is worth in hp.

If you have reed spacers that is supposedly good for another 3hp and better throttle responce.

My SX runs with SRX's. My friend has a 99 700SRX and he will usually get me out of the hole by half a sled length or maybe one sled length then we stay the same distance apart. Have never done a lake run with him though. i do beat my other friends 98 700SRX.

?????? I'm sure it helps. but just think your SX will really run just as strong and you never have to mess with cleaning your power valves.

My buddys 99SRX has been bullet prof but so has my SX.

pi-es tc.

The sx 700 stock is 111 hp

The pipe mfg's claim up to 37 hp, but that is ideal conditions, and borderline burn down. The reality is a well tuned sx 700 like yours is about 132 hp.

The SRX is a different animal. the bore& stroke, pipe design powevalves, carbs etc are the reason they are more HP. They are different power my simple comparison is yz125 vs yz 250--I personally like that 125 feeling more, but the 250 will out run & outtourque the 125--Like most , what do you want to do with it...

If i was back in 98 and could buy a srx or sx --I'd buy the sx all over again...much lighter too.

Good luck, and enjoy!!

Great info, i would like to try a dyno just to see. The last time i rode a sled was a 97 xcr 700. IT was a rental that wasnt spiked. Boy, this sx feels much faster.
