I have ridden 2 stroke all my life. I have the chance to get a 2002 srx with less than 200 miles and i love the throttle response you get from the triple, triple, triple or is it time to step up to a 4 stroke like a used 05 rx1. What do you guys think!!

A lot of it depends on your riding style, where you ride??As for the throttle responce that you state you love, well i think you need to ride a 05 rx-1. and then make your decsion, but then again if you are getting a good deal on the srx, well then its a toss up,but the suspention is much better on the rx-1 in my opinion.

Hey Aaron,
I think you know that I'm still a little partial to the 2-smokes. I'd steer you towards that SRX. Sounds like where you do some of your riding in the Arrowhead and the UP that a SRX would be the ticket. You really can't beat the gas/oil mileage on the SRX, and I really like the long legs they have. You can improve the track and suspension to really change the sled.
Give me a shout if you end up with the SRX. I'm in the process of giving my '02 a little makeover right now to really turn in into a cruiser for this winter. I'd be happy to help you sink as much as you'd like to into your sled.
Some of the used 4 strokes are going for a pretty decent price now that the '06's have FI and some other improvements. I know someone that has a Warrior for sale if you're interested. Personally if I was going for a 4 stroke right now I'd go for a '06 four cylinder after I've driven them. They really are that much better than an '03-05, but you are going to pay the added price of admission.
Repeat after me: SRX, SRX, SRX......

in a word... yes
they have there ups and downs like any sled, but basicly what it boils down to is that they are damned close to the perfect machine for flat groomed trails period. if you ride groomed canadian trails they are untouchable.
in my opinion that's why they have such a following, it's not that they do everything right, 'cause there is no such thing is right, everything is a tradeoff, but right out of the box they are almost perfect for a certain type of riding.

I wouldn't go with the SRX, what a pile! Go with one of the four strokes! By the way can you give me the number of the guy with the SRX, they breakdown so much I could use the extra parts.

I own an 01' SRX and an 05' RX-1. My girlfriend rides the RX-1. The SRX just seems more sporty to me. Don't get me wrong, the RX is a great sled too, but the SRX feels like a factory race sled.

I'm impressed with the amount of responces for the srx's.I've riden srx's and rx-1's and there are neg. positives to both machines.I thought a lot of opinions would of been the rx-1,my self I'd go that route fro many different reasons, manly the suspen.

Get a good SRX for $3,000. Fix the suspension for $1,000 (if you feel the need). Or ride it for a year and decide. You would probably get the opposite response in the four stroke forums, just remember that this is posted where the SRX/Viper fans hang out.

SO true.. But i also have both... But i really comes down to style and comfortness... If you are doing lots of bumps trails and shit i would go rx-1.. otherwise For Long smooth trail rides i would go srx..... ALSO SRX's are good for LAKE RUNS!!!!!

If the trails are smooth...WOW! I rode an SRX 600 last year, and I was behind a, rev and a confusion. I could literally drive with one hand, kick back and not even try to keep up. They were all leaning, hanging off the sides of the sleds. I found myself cursing them for going so slow.
With the trend to make new sleds with so much suspension travel, they will probably never make another sled that handles as good as the SRX on smooth trails. You can run tight twistys faster than you can imagine, then get'em out on the lake.... and well you know what happens then! With the way they have been grooming in the UP the last couple of years(great trails) it makes me want to buy one!

It all comes down to what style of riding you like to do. I have 00 SRX with a modified suspension for rough trails. Yes, I lost some of the handling for tight trails, but once again, it's all what type of riding you like to do. On the other hand, I love the four strokes, but I would not buy any other four stroke than the 06's unless it was an incredable deal! The four stroke technology is getting so much better with every year! Money is always an option and I will wait the storm out for my chance to get a four stroke for less. Good luck with your decision!
