Viper shocks on MM

Will Viper shocks front and rear fit on a 02 MM? How much stiffer are the take offs compared to the revalved ones?Thanks
 
sockeye, can't answer your questions but if you find you can use them i have a set of fronts for 60.00 plus shipping. ray

I don't know about revalved shocks, I would think that would depend on tha valving. The shocks will fit front and back as long they have the same ski stance. If you want to put on short track shocks you will have to change the radiusrods and steering arms. I have put mtn viper shocks on my MM and they work well, especially the front shocks compared to stock.
 
I had thought I had just read somewhere on this site they would. But I could not find it. The question on the stock and the revalved ones was because I ride very aggressive and I'm tired of bottoming out. I thought I had read, the more aggressive riders thought the non revalved were fine. Also, I don't want to change to much on the front. I like the way the narrower stance handles, just need a better shock with more clearance. Thanks, SOC

:?: P.S. Does someone know the length difference between stock front MM shocks and Viper front shocks???
 
I have them on mine, they are the new 'replacement' Viper short track shocks, new from Yamaha, I had to put the 42" wide front end on her to make them work though, I didn't mind, it makes her handle much better in all situations except side hilling. much better ride and more stable now that it's wider, here is a pic of them installed.

The front shocks on a mm and mtn viper are the same length. They are a little nicer ride.

Yes, the MTN Viper shocks will bolt right on. No, the short track shocks will not. The length difference is about two inches. Everything else is the same. I would not put early year short track shocks on because they have a stiff ride for a mountain sled.
 
OK, I have a set of viper front shocks that I need to sell :roll: . Now tell me this, what about using KYB's from a 98'SRX with brackets? My dealer told me it would lower my sled 1/2 " but would definately handle better, Is this true? :?:

I will have to check but I don't think you can bolt on the brackets that you would need to use the shocks off of a SRX. It would definitely make it handle a little better. My reservation would be in dropping the front end at all on a mountain sled. It just makes that much more snow to plow thru when it is deep. More clearance makes a lot of difference bucking deep heavy snow, if that is of any concern to you.
 
Yes, Travel and dampening are my concern. I just can't believe that Yamaha would put those junky shocks on one of their higher priced sleds, cheap bastards... Thanks Soc :roll:
