I am having problems with the recoil and need some help.
Last year I started having recoil problems and the pull cord.
The cord goes in slowly and gets worst in cold weather. How easy is it to take this apart. I know the recoil housing comes of easy but am not sure on disassembly. Will the spring need replacing or could it be dirt and greaase build up. The pull cord in warm weather works just fine. I do need to replace the cord since when I had this problem the cord broke and now is a little to short.

Yeah, you could have sometype of buildup in the housing. I had the same thing with my 2000 sxr. I took it all apart and cleaned it. I didn't replace the spring in there, but I did replace the cord. Worked fine after that. It's not that hard to replace. You'll see it is tricky resetting the spring. You'll have to hang on to it or you will have to start all over again. I have fixed my girlfriends' a few times on the trial, so It's not bad. ( I finally baught her an electric start for her sled, got tired of her pulling to far on it. lol )

I used a degreaser, pulled the rope all the way out, clamped it so it did not recoil, used needle nose to pull the rope knot out, cut the rope ,re installed new rope, tied knot, cut to length, let her roll right back up!
