Bender racing told me no one makes front heat exchanger protectors for the 04 viper s.I was looking at maximum performances 8" driver coversion kit for the viper s and they show a set of front heat exchangers that look a lot like the srx type. They have what looks like a pin at one end of the protector and the other end has two holes in it you rivet to the belly pan.My question is,will the srx style front heat exchangers work on the viper s?

I'll be putting on a 1" hacksaw on my ViperS in the next few weeks - I'll be looking to add the protectors as well...

Rich - how much $$$ for the front and rear exchangers and tunnel protectors?

Thanks -

I installed a set of front heat exch protectors just like the ones you described above on my Viper S. A word caution though, the top "pin" just BARELY is long enough to go up in the hole you need to drill. In fact, if I remember right, when I cleaned my sled all up to put it away for this summer, I noticed that one of the protectors had popped out of the hole. I may just pull it back out and weld a longer pin on it.

Good luck......they're fun to put in :o|

regular proaction front protectors would work as well i believe, you would just have to drill two holes on top and install rivets. Might be worth it if people are having problems with the other style not having long enough pins.

I believe this is what I did to my Viper S. I had to drill 2 holes in the front of the tunnel and rivet the bottoms. And since the S came with a factory skidplate, you'll need to take a couple rivets out of it so you can get the rivets into the protectors.

Pin type suck

Yamaholic is right....the type that rivet in are much better in my opinion. They would be the ones that came in an SXR. Two rivets on the bottom and one or two on top. The only reason they made those pin type was so you could install them without having to take out your track & drive axel. If you are changing your track anyway, get the type that rivet in.
