Has anyone else experienced problems with their grips and thumb warmers not working right.I have ohmed out both grips and the thumb warmer, they are within spec, the voltage drop seems to be right but I still cant get enough heat out of the things. The only thing I did not check is the current draw;anyone know what sort of amperage readings I should get here. The service manual does not list these values, something Yamaha should be looking into, all I have to go by is a chart to eliminate probable causes and their cure. The only thing I have left to do is replace the regulator with a new one,a second hand one did not cure it.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hand and thumb warmers
I have a 2001 srx hand and thumb warmers both quit ended up replacing my cdi and now the are fine. Did you check the variable resister it could be bad and not alowing enough voltage to the warmers

heated grip problem
I checked the vr and the resistance was fine,I even tried a new one on the chance that it may have a bad spot in it but it was the same result. The voltage drop at the thumb warmer connection was supposedly the proper reading(13-18vac) so I am assuming the dial is doing its job.The grip & thumb warmer circut dont run through my cdi box just off the mag,or is that what you were refering to(mag),according to the diagram in the service book.I am going to try another cdi box on it to see if that straightens it out,if not it may be time to try a separate power source directly to the grips & thumb,Im getting a little tired of cold mitts.
