I see to many people not willing to buy stuff out of the country because of "DUTY". Just to make the muddy water clear, you do not pay duty on parts that are made with in North America. Due to the North America Free Trade Act. You will only pay the sales and provincial taxes. You can find your total by multiplying the number by 1.14 and then adding any kind of shipping costs. You also will have to do the exchange rate here is a great website to figure that out for you www.xe.com.

I am also talking from a Canadian point of view.

You must have parts shipped by USPS to avoid the huge "brokerage" fee that UPS;Fed-ex charges also.Parts under $20 in value are exempt otherwise you pay PST & GST & sometimes if you catch the guy(girl) on a good day you don,t get charged anything.

here in Ontario you multiply by 1.15.
They use the declared value to determine taxes and not the purchase price.
If you buy an item for 100.00US but the declared value for insurance is $225.00US you will pay taxes on the 225 in Canadian funds.
Paying taxes on used parts all together is not right.
I have purchase items from TY members in the US and you have to do your home work prior to the purchase. And make sure the seller put a low declared value. Never ship with UPS or Fedex always use US post or Canada post and you wont pay custom brokerage fees.....that is a killer.

i dont think the duty is what everyone is complaining about here. it is the high hidden and unknown brokerage fee charged by certain shipping companies. the best way to avoid them is to send them usps and or canada post and declare your shipped item as a gift to the reciever. ski

Description should be a non-mortorized part such as a house lamp or something and called out as a gift.

I did find if it has anything to do with a sled, bike, ect...even if its a gift it still got taxed when shipping overseas.

I ship all over the country and thats what I have found.
