2002 viper with 1800 miles on my track expertx suspension and mountain performance/ppd extrovert drivers. noticed quite a few (about half of them)missing track clips. hyfax were a little beat up but not too bad.
seems kind of unusual.
any one know what usually causes these to come off???

usually its either just really old worn out clips breaking and falling off (not too likely with only 1800 miles) or getting them way too hot, they stick to the slides and actually get ripped off.

if you got them hot and they stuck to the hyfax wouldn't a whole bunch in just 1 area be missing??
i am asking this because i seem to be missing almost every other clip.

yes but...
I would lift up the skid and check the driver alignment on each window.

the extroverts might be part of the problem. sometimes they need to be ran with a tight track to wear in. i also heard expert x's dont keep tension very tight either, so kind of a double whammy. i would replace the clips and run a tight track for a couple hundred miles.

oz i am positive the driver alignment is good.
n2oiroc, the deal with the expert is that you supposedly can run a lose track and have no problems with ratcheting. i think i am going to get rid of the extrovert drivers. i feel like they have given me more problems then they are worth. i have had a vibration with the sled since the day i installed them and i was thinking they might be associated with this new problem too.
thanks for the help guys

i just talked to richierich this weekend about expert x's. he had a problem with his not keeping tension and shredding the tunnel. maybe i misunderstood him, just to be safe ask him about it.Steven DeMarco said:oz i am positive the driver alignment is good.
