Rear shock length

I need to replace the non-rebuildable shock in the '02 Vmax. Will an '04 Venture rear shock be an exact replacement, or is it to big to fit?

I believe they are the same size, check with someone else to be positive though.

It will fit fine, the install length is just a few mm longer, but there is plenty of travel to allow for that.

The spring rate will be a bit heavier though. and result in a stiffer ride.

If it were me I would pick a used Viper shock instead as it is rebuildable, and the springs are changeable.
