Im going to run a fully cliped ripsaw track with studs , and I was told I have to change the drive to a 8 tooth and change the gearing, and also run EXTROVERTS .Is this the same as the drive? Can someone set me straight on what I exactly need and where to get this stuff????????My gearing is stock Im running a SIMONS 780 KIT.

I dropped to a 8tooth extraverts and ran stock gearing on my viper 22/38 gears with 8tooth is equal to 1.94 ratio. Stock was 1.73. I felt I lost too much top end and spun too much out of the hole. This year I'm going to go to a 23/38 or 1.86 and go from 144 to 192 studs in my ripsaw. See how that works.

Do you think this will help your top end????

Last year I went w/ 8 tooth drivers. I have a 1.25" ripsaw w/192 1.325" woody's ss 60 studs and I changed my gearing to 25/35. I got the drivers from Maxximum Perf{they have a link on this sight} and they were for the mountain max. A little pricey but I checked around and stock are the most durable esp. if you're running w/ a 780. To check your gear ratio, take bottom/topx1.13. For example 35/25x1.13=1.58. Mine might be alittle tall but runs extremely well. Only mods are .010 head plane and clutching from Knapp Yamaha in Prescott,Ontario. Hope this helps ;)!

How was your topend????

Isn't 1.58 extemely tall? I thought the rule off thumb was if you weighed 170 or less stock gearing 1.73 was good, if you weigh more drop a tooth to about 1.81.

Maybe some of the super tech guys could chime in. I should be around a 160hp this year in my viper. Running cpr pipes/porting/HH clutch/head mod/ripsaw track. What gear should I shoot for to obtain the best 0-115? runs. We race on hard packed trails from a dead stop to top speed.... So it should come out of the hole hard, and have as much top speed as possible. All my buddies are running 800 HO's and 1,000 Machs.... I need be competitive. What gear should I go with? I was thinking about a 1.82 23/37
