My guess is that the bearing won't be very expensive but the labour to replace it will.

Hey, what bearing on the crank went? Let me know of the part number by using the yamaha website. Unfortunitely, they are quite expensive, I will let you know how much if you let me know of the part number, thanks

Tyler drop me a line, I know a couple places that do it for decent prices.

how did that happen, rust on the bearing surfaces? Do you fog your sled over summer? Seen several crank bearing failures from poor summerization.

Sorry
Sorry to hear that men I had a bad bearing on my ski doo last year An f III 700, and the told me that thing just dosen't happend that often but it does sometime, i couldn't go over 6000 rpm or 60 mph it sucked.....anyways the wanted at the dealer like 1500 to replace it, that is parts and labor, they told would it been cheaper to bring them just the motor.....
Good luck men

Well it might have been that because it went down at the end of the year due to bad REGULAR gas. (comon guys i know srxs are supposed to have premium but the store didnt have anything else.) So i took it to a local dealer and they just put it up on the racks for the summer with no sumerization. They just started to put it back together and noticed that. Cost me 130 canadian for just the bearing.... This would cost me a forturne if i didnt Know the owners EXTREMELY well. I really dont know what could have made this bearing go.But it well still cost me a few hundred dollars plus parts......

Crank Bearing Problem
Lost a crank bearing on my Viper. I rode it 100 miles first day of riding last season. Started out 2nd day, went about 2 miles and it slowed down from 50MPH to a dead stop. Crankcase showed some signs of rust on rods, crank bearing got hot and pealed some chrome, locked up crank. Lucky it did not hurt the crank or case. The end of the crank is welded on newer SRX's and Vipers. To press the crank apart you have to remove the factory weld, change bearing(s), and weld back together, indexed properly. I took mine to a shop to have that part done. I bought the '02 Viper used. It was not properly stored in Summer. I will always oil and fog my 2-strokes from now on!
YAMAHA Bearing was $80.00, machine shop crank work $125.00, gaskets I think were $100.00 I did most of the work myself.

i smoked two crank bearings, both on early build polaris xlt's though. They had problems with pto bearings locking up for two reasons: 1. they did not have an oil passage directly to the PTO bearing until '95 2. the PTO bearings on those were undersized and not very wide, so they didn't last too long with little lubrication.

Not while fogging after the fact.So it stops the rodents, and condinsation.

We push an sos pad or a piece of steel wool into the end of the exhaust pipe to keep mice out over the summer. If you for get to remove it, it blows out the first time you start it.
