Just wondered if anyone had some ideas that could help me. I have a sxr600 and I find myslef having to change my hyfax about every 400 miles. Is this a normal thing with sxr's?? Is there anything I can do to prevent my slides from wearing out so fast? I have already tried loosening the track and saw no significant changes. any ideas or solutions?????

A tip I read here a few years ago was to heat them up real good and then quickly cool them down again,( something like heating it up with a propane torch and then splashing some water on it) doing this would harden the surface of the hyfax, making it last longer.

I got about 2000 miles off my last set. sounds to me like you need to pull up the limiter straps a bit or find more snow...

Also like stated above, the warm cold thing, but i just put them on then run them down a road with little snow to warm em up then hit some deep stuff to cool them off.

Do as he said to "cure" the polymers. I have the FACTORY set on my '01 SX 700R with 5,600 miles on it. Guess i must be doing something right. ;)! It has all the stock idlers with no marginal wheel kit either. Drill holes in the area of the bend so that you can see exactly how much material is left. Yamaha's wear slides like mad down almost to the wear line, and then stop. If you have holes in the slides you know exactly how much you have left, and they will stay like that if you ride good conditions.

I run my sled up the field and back in the summer. Come back and hit it with cold water. It hardens them and last longer! Good luck.
