i watch a sno cross race a few years back where they interviewed a yamaha rep.and he stated that yamahe does not or will not compete in the snocross also he said they are more geared toward the flat oval racing and straight line racing well with the slugs they came out with in 05 i can see where they are headed. but you have got hand one thing to yamaha sleds
they are very reliable machines between me and my brother we have owned 22 different models and none of them have ever left us stuck out on the trail.as for the 4 stroker's i am all for that technology! it is the wave of the future and as it is with anything. if your not happy with it mod it out.
you can keep your scrap doos the rev is bunk they look heavy and the cost to pick one (i hear 1000$) is ridiculus.i will take the 1000$ and put it to some other use like big bore kit or light weight parts, and have smoked rev for dinner! ps i hate yellow

hmm--open minded
Red,
It sounds like your faithful blue blood is slowly leaking out (or red in your case) We all respect the same things about Y, but whoever told you 1000 to stud and heavy rev must have been on this page.
The Rev is ligher (actual weight) than your sx, and to stud simply add tunnel protectors.
Again, We are on the same page, but i thought I'd clarify those things.
I have ridden all flavors this year, and the RX1 was only good on a flat trail. That being said, 99% of trails are moguls of some sort.
My friends wont believe it, but Yamaha will not be my next machine. Yamaha is always trying to be different, and oh they have really seperated themselves now.
As far as all the regulations--I'll let the mfg worry about it, but for now give me a good running sled--This is a weak argument (Besides the ski doo - does/will meet in 06)
We all need to stay open minded on brands & new ideas, and that is why I try them all. However, to ride a Y , and never another sled is a bit childish. This is like the person who owns a chevy truck all there life, and perhaps for what they do (mogul mash in this case) a Ford (for ex) may be better.
I ride with al brands, and they are all great, and reliable (except cat)
GO TRY ONE, and you may be surprised(Dont defend Y like you work for them)
No matter what --Have fun & be safe

my 411 on the weights of sleds
the way the mfg's weight sleds is bullS@@t you wanna sell me a sled and i dont care what make it is give me one that tips the scale around say 480# wet thats full tank of gas and oil and antifreeze then pack it full of snow then you got a lite weight sled.
there is imo no company that makes a sled under 500 pounds riding weight
the mfg can post the weight of sled but now take that sled fill it to the rim with gas and you just added 75 -100 pounds to the total mass of the machine and then pack the suspension full of snow.
hey blue here is some home work for ya all, tell all your friends and include yourself fill up yours sleds and the go and pack the suspensions full of snow after that take them to a truck scale preferably(a cat scale they are the most accurate)and then weight them . and dont be so surprised at the results! i would bet the average would be close to 600-650 pounds wet.
as for the rev i geuss i can say i dont know as much as i thought about them, sorry! but i am not a stand up rider either, nor am i a snocross guy which brings up my theory if you want to bang moguls do it on the track and practicing banging moguls on the trail is not a good idea either.lets face it there are going to be moguls but there would be alot less of them if kids of all ages would ride with there brains and not there balls.
as for yamaha i like where they are headed its just that it takes them longer to get there, they take small increments in the evalution of there sled which takes some patience.
hey blue i got to say i like chatting with you and thats the fun part of it all, have a debate on all the issues of the sport
also if you here anything of when the new yamaha power surge tour will be coming to new york let me know ........ peace

You are correct, the weights are all wrong, but you can pick up last years snow tech that weighed all sleds with std fluids, and 0 gallons of gas. This makes an equal playing field
These numbers are based on memory, and give me 10lb +/-
RXton: 615lbs
Viper: 525
REV: 485
F7: 470
This was measured on an equal playing field, and if you want to add gas add it to them all. (figure 8lbs a gallon for ballpark figures)
I agree if you are not an aggressive trail rider the New Y is probably a good sled, but you better ride the fields in your neck or canada, because they will beat you if you try & mogul mash.Go try another sled, because I backed Y just like you for years, but this years line up should come 2up only IMO.
If I thought Y was junk I would have walked away along time ago, and that is what frustrates me...I am forced to reconsider.
