97 Vmax 600 1.5"?

Anyone out there change a 1" to a 1.5" track on 97 VMAX XTC 600
I know it can be done any personal experences you would like to share?
Any un-expected problems doing so?
What do I need to know before I change From 121 1" to a 1.5"?
What does removing stock protectors mean to make the 1.5" fit?
It seems that I have the clearence with approx. 1" clearance to the tunnel as oppose to 1.5" with the 1" lugs, will that effect much?

I am not planning on putting on any Studs.

i put a 136" 1.5 lug on my 00 sxr... i haven't rode it at all yet but it won't rub... by looking at it i still have probably a 1/4 inch between the lug and the heat exchanger... i didn't have the protectors on mine but it they would have to be removed if you do have them...i would recommend getting the 1.5 since it doesn't rub on my 2000 and it should be alot better than stock for off trail riding...daneg

your sled didnt come with protectors but if you look up there and you see2 strips running down the tunnel you'll need to remove them not that hard.pull the seat and gas tank or just the seat and use a chisel on the front couple.

How did the 1 1/2 inch track work out on your sled? Any clearance issues? I want to install a 1.25 ripsaw in a 97 sx. There are no tunnel or heat exchanger protectors so I think I am okay.
