I WAS WONDERING HAS ANYBODY POLISHED THERE TUNNEL ON A 1998 SRX 700 AND IF SO DID SOME OF THE RIVETS RUST AFTER POLISHING THE ALUMINUM AFTER STRIPPING THE PAINT OFF? i PUT A MAGNET TO SOME OF THE RIVETS AND THERE ARE STEEL BASE ? THEY WILL RUST OR IS TOP OF THE RIVETS STAINLESS AND THE BREAK STEM JUST STEEL?

I polished my 2000 srx chassis and they hold there polish perfectly. They will not rust on you. Mine didn't.

i always thought those rivets were stainless, but a couple of very knowledgeable guys here said they arent. i guess after you polish them a couple too many times the plating wears off then they rust. so if it really bothers you, replace them.

My '02 Viper had rust on all of the rivets when I purchased it (used). I am in the process of cleaning and polishing my tunnel as well. Mind you the tunnel was never polished by the previous owner; all original.

I polished the tunnel on my 99 and the rivets are rusting allready. Will be replacing them with stainless in the upcoming off-season:
