I just installed a 700 triple into my 99sx600. I changed the carbs and cdi to the ones for the 700. Jetting is stock. Today I was trying to adjust my track and the sled was bogging really bad. Almost sounds like the tors is kicking in, but it is disconnected. The carbs were cleaned when the motor was put in (maybe 3 weeks). Can't really tell if it is missing at idle, but at about 4000rpm it's bogging really bad. If I go full throttle, the rpm's stay about the same (4000-5000) just coughing and sputtering. Any ideas what it could be? I'm going to pull the carbs again and go through them. Could it be a electrical problem? I tried swapping cdi's and it made no difference. :o| Any ideas please let me know.

You could also check you clutches and the belt deflection. check to see that the engine is in there proper. dirty or rusty clutches can bog an engine. Also improper clutch alignment and belt deflection can do the same. Last thing. Did you hear this engine run before installation. I know that some of the early 700s had some crank issues.

You say Your TORS is disconnected or is it bypassed? Makes a difference.
tors is kicking in, but it is disconnected.

when my stator went bad it would backfire and spit and sputter. You could see the pipes popping off the motor as it backfired on random cylinders. (tripple pipes on my 97 700SX)

just an FYI for ya,
Tod

I do not remember but I do not think that I could get the rpm's up.

I had around 5500 miles on mine when I replaced the stator.

mike you want an srx to burrow for the winter?? lol
Yea that would be great! I'll take the new one! LOL!
I think I found the problem. Looks like it's a bad stator. I've got no resistance between the brown/red wire in the triangle connector to the black wire in the rectangle connector. Manual says I should have between 93-113 ohms. I'll keep you posted.

check your spark plug caps also while you are at it. they are supposed to be at 5K ohms. Mine were in the meg range when I did my stator.

This also IS NOT your problem but just wanted to give you a heads up. Spark plug caps out of tolarance just gives you a hard starting issue.
