you can take the viper shock put the u bracket in a vise close the ears up bend the flat bars straight and make a pipe to fit between.install the bolt with a washer both sides and use a lock nut or doulble nut it so it can be tight but still allow the shock to pivot with no binding.tips!you can use plastic washers like phasers had in the steering links to go in between the shock bracket and the backets on the sled.average guy can do this at home without haveing to cut and weld the shock ends to fit.takeing the time to bend an dolly the ends into the proper size is going to make the job.

The viper shocks seem too long(about 3" to long) to fit without some other mods. Do I need longer radious rods? I have already made new upper mounts by welding some bushings on a set of mounts.

you made me type all that for nothing ha i guess i needed the practice!you can leave it like that with no probs or get longer rods and shorter sway links that is wat is binding when you lift the front up.

first take shock and loosen lock nut to adjust spring and back almost all the way loosen spring so that you have just about what you said 2-3 inches of slack in the spring. next leave you original shock mounts alone. flip shock upside down and install the bottom of the shock in the bulk head <top mount> next the only other thing u should do is remove steering component so that you have more room to work with now that you have your shock installed upside down you will need to pull the spring all the way to bulk head so you can compress the spring enough to line up holes with trailing arm. a local dealer told me to try this and to be honest it worked out pretty slick. he said i needed no metal bushing to slide over bolt in bottom of shock but i made one so that i could really tighten it hard with out bending the clevis style viper shock. you can do it jus t have patience. after you get the shock on you can readjust the spring to where you want it
