a good rule of thumb is 150 rpms per gram, but other factors obviously affect this

i tryed it today and it didn't seem to do anything.but the belt is sliping do to improper belt deflection .would that make it rev higher? trying to bring the rpm,s down for the weekend

belt slipping could definately make it rev higher. You sure it is slipping from improper deflection though? What are you running for the rest of the setup? How are you center to center and alignment?

is it slipping at the primary or secondary? What are you running in the secondary for helix, spring, and wrap?

the secondary is stock(199 ,i think its slipping in the primary as the primary was so hot it burnd my hand and the secondary was not that bad at all

ok you're right that is a REAL good sign it is slipping the primary. You said you are running stock rollers right? How are your bushings, rollers, and pins in the primary? A binding bushing can do this as well. Cover bushing and spider bushing are common culprits. Do the rollers turn freely? How much play do they have? How new is the primary spring? Definately a good idea to start with a new or very close to new primary spring when trying to tune and diagnose problems. Something has to be binding to be slipping the primary that bad. I think you could probably run those weights empty without slipping the primary. First look for the above things and then we'll go from there.

i set belt deflection today no more belt slip and clutches not that hot any more ,rpms around 8400.i think i will leave it at that as i am runing out of time.also put 20/40 gears in pulls real hard, now all i have to do is jet it.BUT i have a new problem ,when it get hot it seems to only run on 1 or 2 cylinders when its cool it works fine .it run like this last winter for the guy that had it befor me .he put new coils on no difference, new cdi no difference,so he took it to another dealer they said it was the high speed coil in the stator so i put a new stator assembly in it worked good until now???

Glad you got the clutch problem worked out, alignment and center to center are critical As for the stator problem, you might have a minor short somewhere that is putting too much load on the stator. Have you ever checked for the wire rub through on the main wiring harness underneath the engine. (it runs up to the gauges and headlight). It is very common to have these wires rub through underneath the engine causing shorts that can create all kinds of problems. I would start by looking there, it is a common problem and easy to remedy.

no you can unplug the wires from the hood gauges and fish it out underneath the engine carefully. Make sure you tie a string to the wires so that you can fish them back through after you are done examining them and taping them up good.
