nice machine you have there sleddersteve. I would paint the grills an aluminum colour to make the windshield stand out more, it would look great.

Thanks all,
I should probably do some Photoshop work to plan my next steps. Missing from these photos are the PowerMadd Black Chrome handguards that hadn't arrived by the time I picked up the sled.
I'll post pics as soon as I have them installed.

LOL, I appreciate all the help.
For the first season, I was thinking a bit more subtle and maybe even doing the grills in black.
I did spring for new riding gear just for the occasion figuring/hoping that I might actually keep this sled for a while. I know the latest materials in riding gear is lighter, warmer, etc. but I still like my leather. I was riding with a MX style helmet long before Sno-X and the magazines made them popular so I stuck with what works for me.
I look forward to seeing many of you in Houghton and/or Muni.

The '05 was not happy about being traded. I had started that machine religiously every month during the "off-season" and it was fine right up until the Wednesday morning I was going to haul it off. I had planned to get it ready for trade on the previous Saturday but got called away on some silly "honey-do" project that caused me to shut it off before it was completely warmed up. I noticed it was still on half-choke when I tried to fire it up on Wednesday and sure enough, the plugs were fouled.
I gave up carrying plugs in '03 because up until now I never had a need. This led me to try all sorts of tricks like heating them up on the gas stove etc. until my wife got a little cranky about the smell.
I called Mike at Port since I was running late and he said don't worry about it, just bring it in, I'll take care of it. That's all fine and good but this flabby, out of shape, desk jockey now had to put that beast back on the tilt bed trailer. Naturally, my genuinely caring and sensitive wife thinks this is somehow funny and openly wonders what hair-brained scheme I'm going to use to get that machine up on the trailer without calling somebody for help.
Of course she's right, after 25 years of putting up with my shenanigans she knows I'm not going to call for help or ask for directions for that matter.
About this time, I spy the Grizzly that's been patiently waiting for me to give it some love and attention since I sunk it in a mud bog during our last adventure together. I should have known that it was going to give me some lip as it was sitting right there by the Rage discussing how their owner is scum and doesn't treat them like he should all the while I was fiddling around.
I fired up the Grizzly and wheeled it around to the front of the trailer, spooled out the winch line, hooked it to the front of the Rage then "click" the winch won't wind up. Worked just fine winching out but would only "click" when I hit the "In" button.
After many years in the machinery business, I know that some things just aren't science, machines do have personality and character and sometimes they just get their little machine feelings hurt. I then had to explain to those two what I was doing, how the Rage was going to a much better home and how I would heal the Grizzly's wounds just as soon as I was able.
Of course, my wife is almost literally rolling on the ground laughing during this whole exchange but it worked. The winch magically started winding up, the Rage slid up the trailer real nice and I was on my way.
You ask how I've been and get a story about how I talk to machines, guess some things never change eh Kyle?

good story steve. The best thing about that story is that I can see you outside with the winch unwound talking to the two machines. HAHA anyways, great to hear from ya!! hope all is well!!

LOL - Funny the images you can picture when sitting at a computer. All I ever think of when I see a post by Kyle is BRAAAPPP!!! - And I can totally see Steve talking to his machinery!!
Speaking of strangers - I hope everything is going well for you over on the other side of the pond. Are you planning on making any of the ty rides this year? I talked to Road Dog (Rick) over at the Novi show and told him you too should hook up and come on over for our store ride at the end of January.
Steve if you can believe this I was so busy at the shop last week that I never even got to see your sled with the windshield on it before I left for Novi. They popped the sled together and had the windshield on and next thing I knew it was in the warehouse. It does look awesome!!

one question.....
first i do have a little apex envy..... but to me, the stock windy is hotter looking on the GT then the optional ones... that low chrome is sweet.... and the aftermarket ones are kinda busy.... i dont know... and when you look at the yami website, it seems most of the windies are aimed at the GT, i think there was only one blue one.....
just my 2 cents.... and steve i do like the look.... better than sleds.... lol..... just that low chrome would have stayed if i had a GT in the garage.... although when i get the ATTAK next year i might have to find one of those low chromes from one of you windy changing fools on here... see you in MUNI>>....
