Snowmobile still won't run right. It spits, sputters, and loads up. No power above 4000 RPM. Could it be the coil CDI box or fuel pump? How do I check the fuel pump without taking it out? It has been to the shop and I still don't have any answers. The shop says it runs fine and it is too old to fix. I called AAEN Performance. They were out to lunch and at a snowmobile swap. In other words nobody would answer my questions there. All they wanted me to do is buy parts.

if this cat sat for one summer without draining fuel or stabilizing, you may have a rotted crank seal. look behind drive clutch and inspect seal, sometimes parts of it will be visible on crank

What does the shop mean by it runs fine yet it is to old to fix? If it runs fine then there is no problem. However, it appears that it does not run fine. There is a point sometimes when it costs more to fix than what it is worth. Not being aware of anything you may have already tried beyond the normal items I would look to see if your exhaust pipe got plugged up. I had a mouse make a nest in a phazer pipe once. If all cylinders have compression and carbs and electrical are ok should run fine. One other thing you could check is the ground wire that comes off of your spark plug coils. Sometimes they will break right by the coil. Sled will still run but under a load and vibration they lose the gorund and will not run right.
