Is there a formula to calculate the torque of the Genenis 120 motor.
973cc 3cyl
Bore x Stroke
79 x66.2
120 hp @ 8500rpm
Compression Ratio
11.3 : 1
Gearing ??????

Not Peak
You can not calculate the peak torque, but you can caluclate the torque at the peak horsepwoer Torque = 5,252 x hp/Rpm = 74.1 ft/lbs

Take the engine displacment in cubic inches x the BMEP ( the rx1 is about 190-195 psi ) ...divide that by 150.8 = torq...the 973cc motor is 59.35 cubic inches...I would guess that BMEP of the new engine will be in 180-185psi range because of the four valve head...so doing the math=72.8 ft/lbs of...spin that at 8500-8600 rpm=119 HP. keep in mind that this torq number is at the peak HP...a four stroke torq curv is alot flatter ...so the torq down lower on rpm scale is alot higher than 72.8.
hope this helps you out a bit
