well sold my 01 sxr 700 anyways
what specifically other then a power valved motor is diff on viper.... whats diff from the sxr in riding impressions.
i loved the sound of the sxr with the canister mod you do (drill hole in it) can you do this mod on the viper as well and does the viper sound just like the SXR?
my sxr belly pan got rocked cuz i ride hard, does the viper sit any higher up front?
i am a mogul basher style rider..... how is this sled compared to sxr in rough

can't do the can mod, sled is quicker, but the ride is a lot harsher.rails in the corners though, not sure about how they sit higher or not.I plan on taking some pics. today if i get everything back together.I'll post a pic and let you deside if either one is higher.

You can not do the same can mod to the viper as you could to the 600 and 700 non-valved engines. The silencers are completely different. However, aftermarket cans sound very good on the vioers and help to lose some weight. As for the ride, the viper (assuming it doesn't have the updated shock package) rides stiffer than the SXR. The viper suspensions definately need to be pushed hard to shine, whereas the sx didn't take quite so much pounding to feel compliant. Personally, i dont find the regular viper shock package to be too bad, i push it hard. However, i have rode the updated shock package too and found that it rides very nice as well, but when you push it real hard it will bottom a more than the regular package. If you say you ride hard, you should like the package As for the bellypans getting beat up, why don't you run a skidplate? They take all the beating and look good to boot. I will never ride without one again, after barely catching a rock on the front corner of the bulkhead that resulted in a totalled sled. Skidplate definately would have saved it.

wow the viper is actually worse in the rough? thats suprising, i didnt think you could get much worse then the SXr for a 2001 sled i thought it rode like shit... sure it would corner awesome flat, but in the rough, just doesnt compare to other machines.

you may not have had the sxr setup right. the viper sits higher in the front because of longer spindles on the trailing arms. lots more bottom end grunt for popping up out of the moguls. better gauges. the same chassis though, so riding should be similar other than the stiffer suspension lol
