I need to get 1 more year out of my Yoko track (not in the budget to replace it this year). So I am going to add a few more studs to my stocker this year for added traction. I now have 120 down the center (see red in attached pic). I was thinking of adding another 48 (see blue in attached pic). What do you guys think of this pattern. I am open to suggestions on # of studs and placement. Just wanted some feedback. Thanks

you will need 96 studs to cover the extra you want to do.

Hmm.. It looks like he has two every other belt.. should just need the 48. I have never been a fan of anything but a stud on every belt if you are doing outside studing. Just my opinion, but if you ride hard those outer studs get worked pretty hard. I would think you would have a better chance of tear outs.

some of those studs in the outer belt are WAY too close to the edge, they will tear out in no time (very close to the windows). That is one thing you definately want to avoid when studding the outer belt, is putting them too close to the edges, that is a sure reciped for tear outs. Also you're right, you only need 48 more studs to make that setup, not 96

if a track isn't is the budget, this year why put the money into more studs.Save it so you can upgrade your track next year,I also agree with yamaholic those studs are way too close too the outter belt, rip out.And then that could cost ya even more $$$

yamvip - my buddy has 96 or so extra studs and backers laying around so i can get them for next to nothing.
How many scratch lines on the outside belts should I go with, to keep them away from the edges. Should I go with a stud every belt, alternate sides (1 per belt), I have never studded the outside of my track before so i appreciate the advice.
would like to go with 96 or less, and have the track hold up for the season
yamaholic22 - i know you are in favor to stud the outside, so what do you use as an outside pattern?
thanks guys

for the outside belts i run three scratch lines per belt. One stud in the center, one 1/8" towards the center, and one 1/8" towards the outside. That stagger is plenty for a real good bite, and doesn't put studs right on the edge of the track.
