I have had this 1997 485CC since new. It runs great when warm but is a bugger to get going. The routine needs to be that you start it and let it warm up for 30-45 seconds. This it does rather well. However to keep it going you have to get on it and go and cross your fingers that a plug doesn't go. After a couple of miles it is warmed up and ready to go.

Seems like a harsh way to start a sled but it seems they are built this way as the yamaha fleet in High Level Alta has the same starting procedure for their 485's.

Anyway I hate this method and wonder if anybody has either a similar experience or better yet a modification. Wondered if the installation of a primer might help?

sounds like it running ritch to me. primer would only make it worse. what shape is needle and seat in? is it sticking? the wot blast might be shakin it loose when it sticks open.
