I need some help from a pro.
I have a 2001 sxr 600 and I've been trying to set up the pro action system for 3 years now. I want a plush ride where the suspension eats up the bumps, but I do not want to bottom out.
It seems that when I loosen up the preload on the shock springs, the shocks lose the capabil;ity to hold the sled up at a level ist should.
I am a novice rider that likes to ride hard through the bumps and around the corners.
i am on a budget through ( big house, two kids and a wife that likes to shop)

HELP!!!

I'm 220 lbs

try a 2.3kg mm center shock spring set to the tighter end of the preload range. that should help things a bit. im sure others on here will chime in on fra and transfer rod settings.

Does your sled come with adjustable transfer rods? if not you should get a pair of adjustable ones... best thing i could think of is to get em revalved

Crank that center spring up almost all the way, it makes a big difference in ride. Put the FRA in the center position and set the rear spring for a 50/50 transfer rod gap when you sit on the sled. That thing will ride great.

Ok, sounds good.
When you say crank the center spring up all theway, do you mean the maximum preload dimension on overall spring length?
Is revalving something I can do myself?

Thanks
( And... how about the fronts? How do I know when a shock is shot? My sled is a 2001 and seen some pretty tough duty

crank it until you run out of threads.

Crank the center shock all the way In?? or all the way Out?

shorten the spring or lengthen the spring??

shorten the spring. crank it all the way stiff. it rides softer.

help2

same problem I bought a vmax sx 600 1999 this summer and I 'm trying to make my suspension ride just like the way you said.....I will try yamaholic set up....but I'm a dummie when comes to suspension...Talking about rear shock, the one on the front should open all the way i mean make the spring longer...???? and the back one half and half......????? :rocks: :rocks: :rocks:

Thanks for all the help on the site guys....

Nick

tighten the front spring in the rear suspension all the way or close to it, and set the rear one in the center fra position, and adjust the spring for a 50/50 control rod gap, not spring gap.

OK I've got the center spring up almost all of the way.....the FRA in the center position....how do I adjust to get the transfer rod gap at 50/50??

When I sit on the sled there is no gap on top..........????? :o|

Hey Mjet17, I have to exact same problem as you as far a the control gap. Hoping to get some advice also from the anwser you get. I just realized you must live like 15 mins from me.. NY winter sucks this year...

you set the gap with preload on the rear spring.

make sure when you sit on your sled to check your transfer rod gap that the sled's sitting flat on the floor --not on a snowmobile dolly- like i did once! :o| lol....that will definitely throw your readings off
