Does anybody have opinions on the Yamaha 8CH belt vs the 8DN. I think the 8CH was standard equipment on the early 700SX and 700MM. I understand the 8CH is a softer compound. I have read that the 8DN's hard compound creates heat on the primary that can lead to cracks on the clutch faces. Any opinions would be appreciated.

8CH is pretty much a slouch most of the way through, but its alright for top end and decent all around setups. Not the best high performance weight. 8DN-20 is a much better choice in my opinion.

Thanks yamaholic22 for responding, but I was talking about the 8CH belt vs. the 8DN belt. By any chance, have you compaired the two? Anybody? Thanks.

The 8CH is god for drag racing being softer but as always that takes away from longevity, and as you said the 8DN is harder and will create heat if not clutched correctly, but will last multiple times longer. You can't just switch from one to the other, you will have to run more weight when you switch to the 8DN, when the 8DN came out in 98' Yamaha told you when you use it on a 97' to add weight to the clutch.

Thanks 800 for your responce, your info is noted. Yamaholic, thank you too, don't worry your information on the cam arms is great to know also. Thanks guys!!
