Was changing the chaincase oil on my 99 SRX and noticed the following in the pictures below....3 questions...

1, is that rail truly bent?
2, what's a potential cause
3, can i bend it back?

Definetly bent, from the 1st pic if you ask me. Possible cause:probably a rock or a root. I don't really know about the bending back thing.. I think it will make the rail prone to crack later..

I've never seen a red SRX, just black and blue ones.

Post a pic of the whole sled!

yep, it's just the lift- sorry to get yer hopes up!! I've never seen anything like this before, I've seen bent rails at the rear from landing jumps wrong, but never in the front. WTF would have caused them to bend that way?

I have seen it a few times last year my buddies uncles 98 srx the front part of the rail broke completely apart locking up the track! Good thing he was only going 2 mph, but he was also going over a snowbank to get on the lake

I would definatly try and find a set of good used ones probably find a whole skid for a few hundred. Wouldnt want to risk it and end up injured or worst a totaled sled hehe

I know, that's my fear is that the track catches on it when someone is haulin cheeks. I've sent a few PMs to some people that may or may not have parts....

So basically, if anyone has a mag/throttle side rail (or an entire skid if the price is right) off a 99 SRX, I'd like to talk to ya!

It's possible that some of the cross shafts are bent and forcing the rail to twist out at the bottom. I would drop the skid and make sure before I'd buy a new rail. For example, my front shock lower mount was bent in such a manor as to cause the tips of the rails to be drawn in towards each other without bending the rail, although it was cracked.

I would try and get a newer skid, like from an 00-02 srx if you want the low travel or a viper skid and revalve the shocks if you want more travel. the newer srx skids have more transfer :)

I didn't really want to drop a ton of coin into it since this is my backup sled and a sled for the wife and kids to rip around on. Is the 00-02 SRX skid a straight drop in??

yes the skid is a straight drop in but only go that route if you can't find a good cheap used rail, and you can find a cheap 00-02 rear suspension. If you find a rail it's not too difficult to update the 98-99 specs to the 00-02 specs for more transfer.
