Chain Case oil, I was wondering what the difference is in gear oils. The viper service manual states “CL-3” SAE #75 or #80 all I can find is CL-5 SAE 75-90 or 80-105. Can I use the CL-5?

You mean GL-3 right, for GL-5 the 5 comes after the 3 there for it covers all the property's you need and more,But in a case were the application calls for GL-3 like in a tranny Like VW's you better use a GL-3 only because GL-5 has been linked to deteariation of yellow metals. But in your cain case GL-5 will be just fine.
