I had that sled and put v-force in it. they were v-force 2 and they fell apart. barely made it home that day. not sure if the later ones are better. if not, I recomend NOTHING lol!

do you have any mods done to the sled. Yamaha makes very good reeds and without mods your stockers are good. Put your money into clutching.

Leave the stockers

the stockers are great for stock motors. i don't know how many miles you have on the sled, but you may check to make sure the petals are closing all the way, if not then you may invest in some carbon fiber petals, not the whole cage assembly.

i have about 6000 mile on it and it runs awsome. best motor i ever owned, i have a bender racing clutch kit. i am notching the reed stopers and was think that would be a good combination with some caron fiber reeds.

If you really want to go aftermarket get the boyesen pedals. They are better on all areas than a full kit (with cages etc) like the v-force or RAD valve system.
if you want free power in that area remove the reeds and match all edges from the boots to the stuffers.
you can also install viper/srx style reeds, not sure what you have to do to make them fit, ive done it on a sx with a little grinding. they are wider, and have larger pedals for more area to flow through. your twin for some reason has the same size reeds as a tripple, you would think they would need a larger reed area as they are flowing more air through them than a tripple. if you do a search you can find the aritcle with pictures to show the difference between them.
as for the notch, i dont see how it can do anything for that motor, the port is not blocked, as for a bog down low i would check your float level, clean carbs, check with dealer to see if jetting update was done to the sled as there was one for the twins.

boysen rad valve uses carbon fiber reeds, the boysen power reeds are junk fiberglass. the rad valves are good, the replacment two stage reeds are,... like I said junk! personal testing has proven this to be true.

you might not notice the decrease in throttle response because it will most likely happen slowly over time, but fuel mileage will probably also start to drop slowly. By inspection you will see that the petal tips aren't sealing anymore to the cage, that is allowing fuel charge to get out.

I see........thanks holic

do the notch. made my sled easer to start. no snow yet for testing throttle response. used to be a 4-5 pull sled to start it cold. now itsa 1-2 pull sled.

I replaced the petals on my 98 last year. The dealer wouldn't even sell me the aftermarket. He would get them for me but said it was a waste of $$$ and that the stockers worked the best on a stock motor.
Imagine that, a dealer trying to save me money........lol
