Clutch Rivet ?

This is the first time I have messed with my weights and I don't wan to mess it up before the weekend. I'm adding 4.5g rivets to my weights. The rivet is 17.2mm long and fits into the weight. It seems to me that there is ALOT (7mm) of rivet sticking through. Do I have to mushroom 7mm of rivet to make it tight? And if so, how do I keep that much mushroom head from interferring with the weight profile? THanks.

Peen it down so the rivet can't hit the sides. Don't mash it flush. I find 6 or 7 good wacks with a ball peen hammer on teh anvil works best. Just don't hit the weight. Doug
